We sat down with thomas to hear how his hosts welcomed him, made him a part of the family, and how his perspective on denmark and study abroad transformed: While abroad, he lived in a homestay, took advantage of the unique academics at dis, and explored copenhagen culture and values. My hosts had similar hobbies and interests as me so it helped in getting along well. I had a private room in my homestay just a 20 minute bus ride from central copenhagen.

Most homestay students will have a longer commute compared to some other dis students, but copenhagen has an incredibly vast public transportation network that finding my way around has been no issue. This was just the right amount of distance that is convenient. A lot of the homestays are a little further from the city. My home school only allows.
